Now Neeraj made a great start to his season by winning the Pot Invitational Track Tournament in Potchefstroom, South Africa. This will boost his confidence for the upcoming Diamond League tournament. Neeraj Chopra achieved the top position
Neeraj Chopra topped the six-member competition by throwing the javelin to a distance of 84.52 meters at the World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger Tournament. Indian star Chopra finished ahead of 25-year-old Douwe Smit of South Africa, whose best throw was 82.44 meters. His performance, however, was less than his personal best of 89.94 meters, while Smit came close to his personal best of 83.29 meters.

Duncan Robertson finished third
Only two players Neeraj Chopra and Douwe Smit crossed the 80-meter mark in the tournament. Another South African player Duncan Robertson finished third with an effort of 71.22 meters. Chopra is practicing in Potchefstroom under the supervision of his new coach Jan Zelezny of the Czech Republic. Zelezny is a three-time Olympic champion and world record holder.
Neeraj win two Olympic medals
27-year-old Neeraj Chopra parted ways with his long-time coach Klaus Bartonitz of Germany last year. He will begin his campaign in elite tournaments in the Doha Diamond League on May 16. He won consecutive Olympic medals at the 2020 Tokyo (gold) and 2024 Paris Games (silver). Chopra’s personal best is 89.94 meters, which he achieved in 2022. He has been trying to touch the 90-meter mark for a long time. He is the only Indian javelin player to have won two Olympic medals.
