Once there was a plague in the Odia Bazaar of Cuttack.

Only the Bapu Pada Colony where he lived was safe from it because the highly educated people living there paid attention to the cleanliness of the surroundings. Some of the children there formed a team to run a cleanliness campaign. In which children from the age of 10 to 18 years old were involved. The leader of that team was a 12-year-old boy named Subhash. A famous rogue was seen in the Odia Bazaar, whose name was Haider Ali. In order to drive away Bapu Pada’s children for cleaning the Odia Bazaar, Haider used to thrash them with sticks and force them out of the place. The local lawyers had sent him many times to prison for various anti-social activities. Within a couple of days, plague attacked the wife of Haider and also his son. At first hearing the news, the cleanliness campaign team leader, who happens to be the son of his village head man, began waiting upon them.

Haidar questioned the youth with his face showing astonishment,
” Are you angry with me?”
“Yes, for what reason?”

“That’s because you dislike Bapu Padar people and, out of displeasure, start taunting and reviling him. You got frightened of driving away this foe and have gone serving my wife and children.”. I am impressed by your courage and generosity, son.please forgive me.’ That gentle boy said, ‘You are like our father’ We have no right to forgive. We need your blessings. Your wife is like my mother and your son is like my brother.

Hearing the child’s selfless service and sweet words, Hyder Ali was so moved that he burst into tears. The child said, ‘Uncle, don’t worry, keep giving us the opportunity to serve you.’

He had turned even an enemy into a friend. That extraordinary child later became famous as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. This country, this youth, this society will remember him forever. He is immortal.he will be remembered forever.
