The BCS has issued new rules. New guidelines have been prepared aiming to make air travel easier and more secure. The new rules will restrict the weight of handbags during plane travel. Passengers will no longer be able to bring a suitcase or heavy luggage with them. They will stop people from carrying such large suitcase baggage and only be able to carry a very tiny handbag. Also, when such people bring their handbags, weighing more than 7 kg, the two different kinds of rules and taxation will be followed accordingly.
This restriction on cabin bags or handbags for passengers will begin next month on domestic and international flights. The airport’s passenger count is increasing and the government is trying to manage it by improving efficiency.
The new policy would significantly improve passenger travel as well as airport operations. It is expected to considerably reduce the traffic at the security check points. Increasing air traveller traffic, BCAS and CISF are now contemplating imposing strict restrictions on carrying luggage for passenger flow at airport terminals to be streamlined.
- One Handbag: Each passenger can carry one cabin bag, weighing less than 7 kilogrammes. Everything else is to be checked.
- This way, every airline will be uniform on the size and handling at security checkpoints will also be simple.
- Excess Baggage Charge: If excess cabin luggage has weight or size, extra baggage charge will be paid.
These changes are made to make the process of checking baggage smooth and also to have airline uniformity.
