Potato price hikes in Odisha ,price increased by Rs 10 per kg
Potato price hikes in Odisha , prices increased again. Potato prices have increased by Rs 10 per kg, not by a penny or two rupees. Consumers are now worried about this. Rs 800 four days ago, the price of the same potato packet has now reached Rs 1200. Due to this, retailers are selling potatoes at Rs 30 per kg earlier, but now they are selling them at Rs 40.
However, the state politics have been in full swing for the last 6 months due to the increase in potato prices, with the ruling party and the opposition criticizing each other. However, the benefits are not reaching the common people. Before the general elections, potatoes were sold at Rs 20 per kg in the state. But after the general elections, due to a sudden crisis in the market, the price of potatoes touched Rs 50 to 60 per kg. To normalize such a situation, potatoes were imported from Uttar Pradesh. However, the price of potatoes in the state could not be controlled. The current situation is that potatoes are coming to Odisha from Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. However, the trader said that the price is increasing due to the transportation costs.
However, the transportation cost of potatoes coming from Uttar Pradesh is Rs 4 per kg. On the other hand, potatoes are not coming from Uttar Pradesh in sufficient quantities. Similarly, people do not like eating Uttar Pradesh potatoes that much. Due to which the sale of potatoes is low. On the other hand, since potatoes in West Bengal are priced at Rs 18 to 19 per kg, Odia traders are getting low prices. Earlier, the transportation cost of potatoes coming from West Bengal was Rs 1 to 50 per kg. But now the transportation cost of potatoes coming from West Bengal is Rs 5 per kg. Keeping all this in mind, it is said that the price of potatoes has increased.
