President Draupadi Murmu To Attends Pope Francis’ Last Rites: President Draupadi Murmu landed in Rome on Friday on a two-day Italian visit. She will be the representative of India at the funeral of Catholic pontiff Pope Francis. Union Minister of Parliament and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Justice George Kurien, and Deputy Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly Joshua D. Souza have also joined her. The Pope passed away on April 21, at the age of 88, owing to a stroke. His remains have been preserved in St. Peter’s Basilica for the final viewing. It is the final day of the final viewing, and President Murmu has made tributes. Another picture shared by the External Ministry depicts the president in the presence of many other notable persons in St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City in honour of the late pope. Prime Minister Modi discussed the late pontiff on November 26.

After the memorial, the coffin of Pope Francis was sealed in a ceremony led by Cardinal Kevin Farrell. His face was covered with a shroud by his longtime Master of Ceremonies, Archbishop Diego Ravelli. At that time, the body was sprinkled with holy water by Cardinal Kevin Farrell. The funeral of the pope is scheduled for today, April 26. The leaders and faithful from all corners of the world will be gathering for the final rites.
