Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Mashal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Kuwait’s highest civilian accolade, ‘The Order of Mubarak the Great,’ during his two-day visit to the country. This award was given to the Prime Minister in recognition of his contributions to the improvement of ties between Kuwait and India.
On december 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been conferred with Kuwait’s highest civilian honour. This is the 20th international honour conferred on Prime Minister Modi by any country. The ‘Order of Mubarak Al-Kabir’ is conferred on the heads of states or members of foreign royal families as a symbol of friendship.
The Indian community in Kuwait is the largest Indian diaspora in the world. This was the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years, and there was a lot of excitement among the Indian diaspora. Prime Minister Modi was welcomed by the diaspora at a ‘Hala Modi’ (Welcome Modi) event. The Prime Minister invited the diaspora to attend the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas event to be held in Odisha.
For the first time in 43 years, an Indian Prime Minister has visited Kuwait. Kuwait and India’s bilateral relations rely heavily on trade. The Prime Minister stated that intimate people-to-people contacts between the two countries are the primary basis for the increase in bilateral trade. Our bilateral connections are constantly developing. Our partnership in the energy sector has taken bilateral relations to a new level, said Prime Minister Modi.
