Waqf Bill Passed By Rajya Sabha With 128 Votes
Rajya Sabha Passes Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025: The Wakf Amendment Bill was also approved in the Rajya Sabha late on the night of Thursday. 128 MPs supported the bill and 95 opposed it. Previously, the Wakf Amendment Bill was approved in the Lok Sabha late on the night of Wednesday.
In the Lok Sabha, 288 members voted for the bill and 232 members voted against it. In the Rajya Sabha, the debate on the bill had been in progress since Thursday at 1 pm. It continued for nearly 13 hours.
Opposition Leader in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge had stated that I am fortunate that the Home Minister is present to hear me, but he is speaking rubbish. There is a mood in the entire country about the Wakf Bill that this bill has been introduced to harass the minorities.
He stated that if so many such amendments were brought in the 1995 Act, we would have agreed to it. Whatever was present was covered in it. Whatever was not meant to be present was also present.
Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has stated regarding the Wakf Bill that the party has not given any whip to its MPs. MPs must follow their conscience and take a decision regarding the Wakf Bill.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda attacked the opposition’s position on the Waqf Bill. Nadda stated – We were much more serious about the Waqf Bill than the Congress-led UPA government.
BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi stated- Waqf had also claimed the Taj Mahal once. After that, the Supreme Court admonished them.
