Rekha Gupta will be the fourth woman Chief Minister of Delhi.

Her name was announced this evening during the Delhi BJP Legislative Party meeting. She will be sworn in as the Chief Minister tomorrow at historic Ramlila Maidan. She will become the fourth woman Chief Minister of Delhi with this.
Deputy Chief Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma
Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, who is in the Chief Ministerial race, will be the Deputy Chief Minister. He was defeated by Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi seat by over 4 thousand votes. There was a talk after this that he was leading in the Chief Ministerial race. But with the passage of time, the debate grew strong that the BJP would appoint a woman Chief Minister and Rekha Gupta’s name was raised. And ultimately, on the day, her name was voted. Rekha Gupta, a three-term municipal councilor and someone who has held different party positions, has been elected as an MLA for the first time and has been appointed the Chief Minister. She was elected from Shalimar Bagh.
In the Shalimar Bagh assembly constituency, Rekha Gupta trounced her closest rival AAP’s Vandana Kumari by more than 29,000 votes. Rekha Gupta received 68,200 votes whereas Vandana Kumari received 38,605 votes. Congress candidate Praveen Jain received just 4,892 votes.
Who Is Rekha Gupta?
Rekha Gupta, who was born in 1974, was elected as the general secretary and president of the Delhi University Students’ Council.
Rekha Gupta is the president of Delhi University Students’ Council from 1996 to 1997. She was elected to the Delhi Council from North Pitampura in 2007. After this elected to the Delhi Council from there once again in 2012. She was also the mayor of South Delhi Metropolitan Corporation (SDMC). In 2022, the party nominated her as the mayoral candidate against AAP’s Shelly Oberoi. Rekha Gupta is the BJP Women’s Morcha’s national vice-president. She was also the general secretary of the Delhi unit of the party. She thanked the party leadership after the party chose Rekha Gupta to become the Chief Minister. He assured the people of Delhi that he would serve them with sincerity and honesty.
BJP is going to govern Delhi after 27 years. This time in the Delhi Assembly elections, BJP has secured 48 out of 70 seats, whereas AAP has secured only 22 seats. Most of the party’s frontline leaders, including AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, have been defeated this time. Manish Sisodia is among them. Atishi, who has been sitting as Chief Minister for a few months, has won.
