RCB vs CSK: RCB register first win against CSK at Chepauk in 17 years

Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Chennai Super Kings by 50 runs: The eighth game of the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was contested at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Here, CSK skipper Poojaraj Gayakwad won the toss and elected to bowl. Batting first, RCB made 196 runs for losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. While chasing the score of 197 runs, CSK were required to bat first.

RCB had won the game by beating Chennai by 50 runs. While chasing the target of 197 runs that was set by RCB, CSK were limited to 146 runs for losing 8 wickets. The best part is that after 17 years, RCB beat to CSK at Chennai’s home ground, Chepauk. RCB had earlier beaten CSK at this venue in the first season of IPL.

Chennai lost to Mumbai Indians (MI) by 4 wickets in the opening game of this season, whereas RCB also displayed their strength by beating Kolkata Knight Riders. However, CSK’s performance in this game was poor. CSK lost 3 wickets during the power play. During the second over, Josh Hazlewood got Rahul Tripathi (5) and skipper Poojaraj Gayakwad (0). Then, Bhubaneswar Kumar sent Deepak Hooda to the pavilion. Sam Curran was sent back for only 8 runs by Livingstone. CSK’s score was 52 runs for 4 wickets at that point.

RCB’s batting began with an aggressive play by Virat Kohli and Phil Salt. Salt was out for 32 runs while Virat stayed at the crease and was able to keep the ball going. Kohli, however, got out for 31 runs off 30 balls. RCB’s win has given a historic turn to the tournament.
