Hundreds of people travel daily
Around 800 people travel on this train every day. However, in 2011, the Bhakra Bus Management Board (BBMB) decided to stop this free service due to financial losses. But later on, it was decided that this train must not be looked upon as an income source but as heritage and culture. It is to be noted here that construction of Bhakra-Nagal Dam was started in 1948 with much of support from Railways. It was then being used to undertake workman and machines. Since then, when the dam was formally inaugurated in 1963, hundreds of tourists have been enjoying the journey of this train every day.
