Who Is Tuhin Kanta Pandey? Centre Appoints As New SEBI Chief
Tuhin Kanta Pandey appointed new SEBI Chairman: Finance Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey has been the New chairman of the capital market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). He has been appointed by the Union government. He will hold this position for three years. The Cabinet Committee on Appointments made the decision. Tuhin Kanta Pandey is an Odisha cadre IAS officer of the 1987 batch and has also served the Odisha government.

Previuosly, Madhavi Puri Buch was holding this position. She was the female chairperson of SEBI. But she got into controversy surrounding the Adani-Hindenburg matter. Her term was not extended by the government. This January, the government began looking for a successor to Madhavi. Tuhin Kanta Pandey led in that list.
In his capacity as Finance Secretary, Tuhin Kanta Pandey played a critical role in overseeing the ministry’s functioning and providing policy advice to the Finance Minister. He played a key role in forming India’s fiscal and economic policies while representing the ministry before the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee. With his extensive background in financial management and governance, Pandey now leads SEBI, ushering in a new era in his remarkable career.
Tuhin Kanta Pandey is a 1987-batch Odisha cadre IAS officer. He has served in the health, public administration, commercial taxes, transport, and finance departments of Odisha. Tuhin Kanta Pandey has also served as Executive Director, Odisha State Finance Corporation, and Managing Director, Odisha Small Industries Corporation. He was also Collector and District Magistrate of Sambalpur. Tuhin Kanta Pandey, who has a postgraduate degree in economics from Punjab University and an MBA from the University of Birmingham, UK, has served in both the Odisha government and the central government.
