Ukraine Agrees To 30-Day US Brokered Ceasefire In War With Russia: Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire against Russia. The US- Ukraine peace talks in Saudi Arabia were successful. Ukraine accepted the US’s 30-day ceasefire proposal. US President Trump welcomed the Ukrainian move.
Trump said he hopes Putin will now agree to a ceasefire. The Russia- Ukraine war has been going on for three years. After important peace talks between US and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine has accepted a 30-day ceasefire proposed by the US.
After a meeting that lasted more than eight hours, Zelensky said that the ceasefire proposal accepted by Ukraine covers not only the air and sea but the entire front of the war with Russia. “Ukraine accepts this proposal, we consider it positive, and the United States must convince Russia to do so,” Zelensky said, adding that the ceasefire would begin as soon as Moscow agrees.
The United States said in a joint statement with Ukraine after the meeting in Jeddah that it would immediately lift the freeze on intelligence sharing and resume security assistance to Ukraine. After the meeting, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the onus is now on Russia to take steps to end the war.
US President Donald Trump has welcomed the Ukrainian initiative and said he will speak to Russian President Vladimir Putin about the plan. Trump expressed hope that Putin will agree to a ceasefire, possibly this week.
