Veteran Odia film actor Uttam Mohanty passed away. He passed away while undergoing treatment at Gurugram Medanta Hospital in Delhi. He was suffering from liver cirrhosis. He was 67 years old at the time of his death. His demise has cast a shadow of grief over the Odisha. He has acted in Odia, Bengali and Hindi films as well. He entered the acting world in 1977 with the film Abhiman directed by Sadhvi Meher.

This distinguished actor has acted in more than 130 films. He is a great actor for himself in Ollywood for his impeccable and artistic acting and ruled the cinema in the 1980s. He has given the Odia film world super hit films like Udandi Sita, Danda Balunga, Jordaar Mulk Tar, Dekh khabar rakh najar, Laxman Rekha, Sei Maandati, Pardeshi Chadhei etc. He has acted in 30 Bengali films and one Hindi film ‘Naya Jahar’ as a hero.
For his impeccable acting in the film, Uttam Mohanty has been honored with many awards like the State Film Award and the Jayadeva Award. Meanwhile, Uttam’s performance in Danda Balunga made him very well known. In 1987, he married the Ollywood queen Aparajit. He received the Best Actor Award from the state government for three consecutive years from 1982 to 1984.
