Currently, Russia provides visa-free entry to travelers from China and Iran under its visa-free tourist exchange program. Now India’s name is also going to come in this list. This facility can start for Indians from the year 2025.
Earlier in the month of June, reports had surfaced that Russia and India have discussed an important agreement regarding visa-free tourism. There was talk between the two countries to reduce visa restrictions. In the year 2023, more than 60,000 Indians traveled to Russia. This figure is 26 percent more than 2022. Due to visa free travel from the year 2025, there may be a significant increase in the number of Indians going to Russia.
The number of Indian travelers visiting Russia has seen a steady increase in recent years. In 2023, Russia issued 9,500 e-visas to Indian travelers, accounting for 6% of the total e-visas. In the first half of 2024, 28,500 Indian travelers visited Moscow, 1.5 times more than last year. In 2023, more than 60,000 Indians traveled to Russia, 26% more than in 2022.
Russia and India have a deep historical and diplomatic friendship. The new visa-free policy will not only boost tourism but also business relations.
Currently, Indian passport holders have the right to visa-free entry to 58 countries. India’s passport is ranked 83rd in the Henley Passport Index 2024, with the help of which Indians can travel without visa to travel destinations like Thailand, Indonesia, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Qatar.
