Yashwant Verma is currently in the news all over the country. Rs 15 crore has been recovered from his house. According to reports, Yashwant Verma was born in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. He did his B.Com. Honours from Hansraj College, Delhi. He did his LLB from Rewa University. Started practicing law on 8 August 1992.Commencing from 2006, he was appointed a special advocate of the Allahabad High Court. He served as the Chief Standing Counsel of Uttar Pradesh from the years 2012 to 2013. In August 2013, he became a senior advocate in the Allahabad High Court. On 13 October 2014, he became an additional judge in the Allahabad High Court. After that, on 1 February 2016, he became a permanent judge in the Allahabad High Court, and on 11 October 2021, he became a judge of the Delhi High Court.
Yashwant Verma has taken several important decisions. According to reports, he was the one who stopped the proceedings against AAP leader and former Delhi minister Satyendra Jain. He also directed the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate to make public all official press releases and media statements issued in connection with the investigation into the liquor policy scam.
After the preliminary inquiry, Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay will submit a report to the Supreme Court Collegium. A preliminary inquiry has been initiated against him. If, after the preliminary inquiry report, the allegations are found to be serious, then the House Committee process will be initiated. Earlier, the Supreme Court Collegium, chaired by Chief Justice of India Sanjib Khanna, held a meeting on Thursday. After receiving a report regarding the collection of money during the fire incident at Justice Verma’s residence, the collegium unanimously recommended that the Central Government to transfer Justice Verma to the Allahabad High Court.
However, there is strong opposition to sending Yashwant Verma to Allahabad. The Bar Association has said that it is not a ‘dustbin’. Allahabad High Court Bar Association President Anil Tiwari said that Rs 15 crore was found from a judge’s house and he is being rewarded for returning home. If Rs 15 lakh is recovered from a general employee’s house, he is sent to jail. Rs 15 crore cash was found from a judge’s house, and he is being ‘sent home.’ Is the Allahabad High Court a dustbin?
