Who is Naveen Patnaik? Naveen Patnaik is a well-known politician of India and the former Chief Minister of Odisha. Naveen Patnaik was born on October 16, 1946, in Cuttack, Odisha. His father was former Chief Minister of Odisha, Biju Patnaik, and his mother’s name was Gyan Patnaik. Naveen Patnaik was educated at Doon School, and later he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Kirori Mal College, Delhi. He is also a writer and was away from politics in his youth. After the death of Navee’s father in 1997, he entered politics and a year later founded a party named Biju Janata Dal in the name of his father, Biju Patnaik. After Biju Janata Dal won the assembly elections and formed the government with the BJP,. In which he himself became the Chief Minister.
During his tenure, he fought against corruption and started supporting policies in his own way, and in the state, he made his father’s dream of the development of the state the basis by properly managing the bureaucracy. In this way, he gained his popular image in Odisha and remained the Chief Minister for the 4th time. Naveen Patnaik’s name is recorded as the longest-serving Chief Minister in the history of Odisha, and he is still unmarried.
Patnaik entered politics in 1996 after the death of his father, Biju Patnaik. In 1996, he was elected to the 11th Lok Sabha in the assembly constituency by-election as a Janata Dal candidate. He was a member of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Steel and Mines and the Standing Committee on Commerce in the Lok Sabha. In 1997, Naveen Patnaik formed the Janata Dal, and in 2000, he won the assembly elections in Odisha by forming an alliance with the BJP. who was serving as a minister in the BJP government, resigned from the Union Cabinet and took oath as the Chief Minister of Odisha.
Naveen entered politics in 1997; he had no experience. Many people felt that he would not be successful in politics and would not be able to carry forward his father’s legacy, but Naveen proved everyone wrong.
