Who will be the next Chief Minister of Delhi? These BJP leaders are in the CM race…

Who will be the next Chief Minister of Delhi? The national capital, Delhi, has been blessed with BJP after a long 27 years. In the 2025 elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has won a historic victory by winning 48 seats. Meanwhile, our Aam Aadmi Party, which has been ruling Delhi for 10 years, has suffered a major defeat. AAP has won only 22 seats. Delhiites dislike heavyweights like Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain, Abodh Ojha, and Saurabh Bhardwaj. Meanwhile, the oldest party, Congress, could not open its account in Delhi.

The BJP came to power in Delhi in 1998. Then, in 2013, the Aam Aadmi Party formed the government. After that, AAP came to power for two consecutive terms. In the 2015 elections, Kejriwal’s party, AAP, won 67 out of 70 seats. In the 2020 elections, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats. But in the current elections, Delhiites no longer trust AAP. Aam Aadmi Party has to be satisfied with only 22 seats. On the other hand, the defeat of heavyweights like Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain, Abodh Ojha, and Saurabh Bhardwaj in the elections has given AAP a big blow. Although it won 22 seats, AAP leaders and workers are in no mood to celebrate.

BJP has returned to power after more than two decades. So, the discussion is in full swing about who will be the next Chief Minister of Delhi. So, the names of leaders like Prasad Verma, Vijendra Gupta, and Bansuri are in the race.

Pravesh Varma: BJP candidate Pravesh Varma has won from the Delhi seat, defeating Kejriwal. Pravesh Varma is leading in the Chief Ministerial race. Because the candidate who wins from the Delhi seat is considered the main contender for the Chief Minister’s post. From 1998 to 2020, the candidate who won from New Delhi in the assembly elections has become the Chief Minister. On the other hand, after winning the election from the Delhi assembly seat, Pravesh Varma met Home Minister Amit Shah. In such a situation, the big question is whether the tradition of making the candidate who won from the Delhi seat the Prime Minister will be repeated or will the BJP make the candidate who won from other assemblies the Chief Minister.

Vijendra Gupta: BJP candidate Vijendra Gupta has defeated AAP candidate Pradeep Mittal from the Rohini seat. Vijendra Gupta had won this seat in 2015 and 2020 as well. He has served as the Delhi BJP chief. His experience and leadership qualities have made him stand out in the Chief Ministerial race.

Virendra Sachdeva: Virendra Sachdeva is the Delhi BJP President. He has been holding this post since 23 March 2023. He defeated AAP candidates by a wide margin in the current elections. Along with politics, Sachdeva also works as the General Secretary of the Indian Archery Association and the Vice President of the Delhi Olympic Association.

Harish Khurana: BJP candidate Harish Khurana, who won from the Moti Nagar assembly seat, is also in the Delhi CM race. He lost to AAP candidate Shivcharan Goyal. Harish Khurana, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana, holds important positions in the BJP’s Delhi unit as secretary, coordinator of the public relations cell, and party spokesperson.

Bansuri Swaraj: First-time MP Bansuri Swaraj is in the race for the Delhi Chief Minister’s post. She is the daughter of senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj. Bansuri Swaraj won from the Delhi seat in the Lok Sabha elections.
