Why do films release on Thursdays and Fridays?: Do you know the reason behind this?
Why do films release on Thursdays and Fridays?: Why do they release big films on Thursdays and Fridays out of the 7 days of the week? Producers have a preference for Thursdays and Fridays over other days. While the Bollywood industry considers Fridays auspicious, the South industry releases its films on Thursdays. What could be the explanation behind this?
You must have noticed that most Bollywood films are released on Fridays, while South films are launched on Thursdays. But do you know why only these 2 days are selected for film releases?
So for several years after independence, Indians did not have color TVs, due to which people went to the hall to watch films. Employees in the film business were granted a half-day off on Fridays to view films with their families.
Aside from that, Friday is said to be the day of Goddess Lakshmi, thus Bollywood filmmakers believe that releasing their movie on Friday will result in a lot of money. Additionally, Friday is the last working day of the week. Since Saturday and Sunday are holidays, people go to watch films with their family and friends. Similarly, film releases began in Hollywood on Friday. Apart from this, there is a belief that South films are released on Thursday. They believe that since Lakshmi comes on Thursday, they release films on this day. It is considered an auspicious day for her.
