Why Is Good Friday Celebrated; Good Friday is an important festival for Christians. Good Friday is also known as Black Friday, Holy Friday, or Great Friday. Christians believe in a general religion that God had a son, Jesus Christ. He was sentenced to death for bringing enlightenment, dispelling ignorance, and darkness. Jesus Christ was crucified on this day. Thus, a remembrance of the sacrifice occurred. Jesus Christ was innocent, as told in the Christian religious books. The punishment that came to him was to be mounted on him while hanging on the cross. He underwent much torture before his death. A crown of thorns was an item impaled on his head and taken to a place called Golgotha to fetishize the crucifix. Despite receiving seemingly every form of torture possible, Jesus, instead of ignoring his killers, prayed for them and said, “O God! Forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

Fasting is observed on Good Friday:
Good Friday is a major festival of Christians. On this day people observe fast and after fasting they prepare and eat various kinds of dishes. Sweet bread is specially prepared as a dish which is distributed as prasad. Also some people observe fast 40 days in advance on the occasion of Good Friday which is called Lent.
Special events are held at the church:
On Good Friday, a special event is organized in all churches. People come here to pray. The special thing about this event is that on this day, bells are not rung in the church but wooden rattles are played. People remember Lord Jesus Christ by kissing the cross. Although every year everyone goes to church on Good Friday, but due to this lockdown, stay at home and celebrate the festival by praying to God.
How Do We Celebrate Good Friday?
Good Friday is celebrated with great pomp. Although this festival is celebrated for one day, but the preparations for this festival start 40 days in advance. The followers of Christianity start fasting 40 days in advance. The special thing about this fast is that vegetarian food is always eaten in it. After the 40-day fast is over, people go to church and mourn in memory of Jesus Christ. On Good Friday, people meet in church and the last seven sentences of Jesus Christ are especially told. These seven sentences are related to reconciliation, help, sacrifice and forgiveness.
Jesus Christ was resurrected on Easter Sunday:
There is a popular belief that when Lord Jesus was crucified on Good Friday, he came back to life on the third day, Sunday. Easter is celebrated on Sunday to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
