All senses, philosophy, and knowledge come from him. Mahadev’s vehicle, the bull, is the symbol of Dharma. He is four-legged. When Dharma is four-legged, then it is developed in full glory.

In the yoga tradition, Shiva is worshipped not as a god but as the first Guru. Shiva is the first Guru from whom knowledge originated. After meditating for thousands of years, Lord Shiva became completely calm and peaceful one day (on Mahashivaratri). On this day, one can attain supreme bliss by spending time in meditation and worshipping Shiva. Whether male or female, those who dedicate their mind and soul to Shiva and observe this fast and auspicious fast, their hearts become pure, peaceful, and blissful. Lust and anger are subdued.
