WPL2025 captain ,List of captains of all 5 teams for women’s premier league 2025
WPL2025 captain , WPL 2025 started in India before IPL 2025. Five teams are participating in this T20 league of women players. This is the third season of the WPL in which star women players of India as well as foreign cricketers will be seen. The league started from February 14 to March 15.In any sport, the captain plays the most important role in taking the team’s performance forward. In cricket, a captain can also be a game changer. At the same time, a captain plays a particularly important role in the shortest format of cricket, i.e., 20-20 overs, because here the course of the match changes with every ball.

So far, Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana have won the WPL title as captains of Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Both the captains will also lead their teams in WPL 2025. Here is the complete list of captains of all WPL teams.

Meg Lanning-Delhi Capitals
A name that needs no introduction in the world of women’s cricket, Australia’s Meg Lanning will continue to lead the Delhi Capitals in the third edition of the WPL, taking on the role of captain in the inaugural season in 2023.
Meg Lanning has won five Women’s T20 World Cup titles as well as two Women’s ODI World Cup trophies. Six of those titles have been as captain. She also led Australia to a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games as captain.
Meg Lanning, the Orange Cap winner (highest run scorer) of the first WPL season, led DC to a runner-up finish in 2023. She has scored 676 runs in 18 matches so far in this tournament.
Ashleigh Gardner, Gujarat Giants
Ashleigh Gardner will captain the Gujarat Giants in WPL 2025 after Beth Mooney spent two years as captain.
A three-time Women’s T20 World Cup winner, Gardner has been with the Gujarat Giants since the inaugural season of the WPL. The Australian all-rounder has so far scored 324 runs and taken 17 wickets in 16 WPL matches.
Ashleigh Gardner, who was part of Australia’s gold medal-winning Commonwealth 2022 team, was the Player of the Tournament at the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023. Along with this, she also won the Women’s Big Bash League twice for the Sydney Sixers in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
Harmanpreet Kaur, Mumbai Indians
Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur will once again captain Mumbai Indians in WPL 2025.
Harmanpreet has been with the Mumbai Indians since the inception of the WPL and has led them to win the inaugural title in 2023.
The first Indian woman to score a century in T20Is, Harmanpreet has scored 549 runs in 17 WPL matches at an average of 45.75 and a strike rate of 137.94.
Deepti Sharma, UP Warriors
Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma will take over the captaincy of the UP Warriors after Alyssa Healy was ruled out of the WPL 2025 due to injury.
Deepti, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, has been with the UP Warriors since the inaugural season and will become the first player to lead her home franchise at her home stadium in the WPL.
27-year-old Deepti Sharma is the team’s second-highest wicket-taker in the WPL with 19 wickets in 17 matches. The first Indian to take a hat-trick in the WPL has scored 385 runs for the UP Warriors and was named the league’s MVP last season.
Deepti has previously captained Bengal in domestic cricket, East Zone in the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal ODI Trophy, and Velocity in the Women’s T20 Challenge 2022.
Smriti Mandhana, Royal Challengers Bangalore
Smriti Mandhana, India’s leading run scorer in women’s T20Is with 3761 runs in 142 innings, was named captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first edition of the WPL in 2023.
Mandhana became the youngest T20I captain for India by leading the team against England in 2019. The 28-year-old also led the Trailblazers to victory in the Women’s T20 Challenge in 2020.
She will continue in her role as captain for the upcoming campaign after leading RCB to the title in 2024. In two seasons, Mandhana has scored 449 runs in 18 matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
