Writer vasudevan nair is no more . Famous Malayalam writer and Jnanpith Award winner M. T. Vasudevan Nair died on Wednesday. He was 91 years old. President Draupadi Murmu condoled the death of famous Malayalam writer M. T. Vasudevan Nair on Thursday and said that his death has caused an irreparable loss to the literary world. 

Murmu wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ that the death of Vasudevan Nair has caused an irreparable loss to the literary world. Expressing grief over the death of Vasudevan, she wrote, “His writings brought rural India alive.” The President said, “He was awarded prestigious literary awards and also made a significant contribution to films. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan. I express my heartfelt condolences to his family members and a large number of his readers and fans.” Bhasha Simmi Surabhi

“MT has passed away,” a hospital source told PTI. He was undergoing treatment for the disease for over a month. He was admitted to the hospital on December 16 after suffering from respiratory complications. He died at a private hospital here at 10 pm on Wednesday. 

Nair wrote nine novels, 19 short story collections and 54 screenplays in a career spanning seven decades. He also directed six films.
