10 Rupees Aahara Scam In Rourkela : Poor Man Beaten At Food Centre . The government has clear instructions to provide a full plate of rice, dalma and pickles to the poor at Rs 5 at the food centres. But an exception to this has been seen in Smart City Rourkela. The poor are being robbed in the name of ‘food’. Instead of Rs 5, Rs 10 is being taken for rice, dalma and pickles per plate. Two types of plates have been kept in the food centres. Rs 5 for a small plate meal, Rs 10 for a large plate meal. This situation has been seen not in one or two food centres, but in almost all the centres of the city.
Due to which there is often a fight between the SHG women who run the center and the poor (beneficiaries). The talk goes up to the departmental officer, but the result is zero. To satisfy hunger, the poor beneficiaries are forced to pay 10 rupees for a full meal and 5 rupees for half a meal. Such a system at the New Bus Stand Food Center, a major crowded place in the city, has surprised everyone. The center provides rice and dal to 900 poor people every day. But the poor are being served on two types of plates. 500 per day at the Sector-2 Government Bus Stand Center, 500 at noon and 100 at night at the food center in front of Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in Sector-19, 1000 at noon and 300 at night at the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) Complex Center, 900 at noon at the center on Power House Road, and one oli at the Ved Vyas Center every day, making a total of 5,200 meals a day being provided by the RMC to 1,000 poor people. The government has fixed the price of each meal at Rs. 27. The government is bearing Rs. 22.
Beneficiaries are supposed to pay Rs 5. According to Subhadra Pradhan of Bonai, Tapan Kumar of Basanti Colony, and Sanoj Kumar Sahu of Bandhamunda, Rs 10 is being taken for water, dalma and rice. More than 200 plates are stained. As many plates as there are, they are being given to others after one person finishes eating. There is only one glass for 100 people to drink water. It is better not to mention the sanitation system of the food centres. RMC Deputy Commissioner Ajit Patnaik said, such allegations are completely unacceptable. Every food centre will definitely be investigated. Action will be taken against those who are doing this.
