Highly Seismic Region

Ladakh lies in the Himalayan seismic belt, which falls under Seismic Zones IV and V—among the most earthquake-prone zones in the world. Due to the continuous movement of tectonic plates, earthquakes are frequent in regions such as Leh-Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir.
