PM Modi to Open ‘Seva Tirtha,’ New Home of the Prime Minister’s Office
Seva Tirtha, Kartavya Bhawan-1 and 2 to Be Launched by PM Modi Today: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a new chapter in India’s administrative history on February 13, 2026, when he opens the newly built Prime Minister’s Office complex in Delhi. The complex, named Seva Tirtha, has been developed as part of the ambitious Central Vista redevelopment project. The Prime Minister will unveil the name in the afternoon and later formally inaugurate Kartavya Bhawan-1, Kartavya Bhawan-2, and the PMO complex before addressing a public gathering in the evening.
For decades, the Prime Minister’s Office has operated from the iconic South Block, a building deeply associated with India’s post-Independence governance. Now, the PMO will move to Seva Tirtha on Dara Shikoh Road — a modern, purpose-built complex designed to bring key decision-making bodies under one roof. The shift is expected to improve coordination, as the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Security Council Secretariat, and the Cabinet Secretariat will function from the same premises. Once the relocation is complete, South Block will undergo conservation and retrofitting to preserve its historic legacy.
The new administrative setup also includes Kartavya Bhawan-1 and Kartavya Bhawan-2, which will house several major ministries such as Finance, Defence, Health, Education, Agriculture, and Law and Justice, among others. Officials believe that bringing these departments closer together will make communication smoother and decision-making faster, ultimately improving governance.
Beyond bricks and mortar, Seva Tirtha symbolizes a shift toward a more integrated and modern administrative system. While South Block carries the weight of history, the new complex reflects the government’s push for efficiency and collaboration in the heart of the national capital.
