Delhi High Court Adjourns Rajpal Yadav’s Bail Plea to February 16: Actor Rajpal Yadav’s legal troubles continue as the Delhi High Court has adjourned his bail plea until February 16. The case, involving a ₹5 crore loan, has been dragging on for years, but recent developments have brought it back into the spotlight. Yadav’s lawyer informed the court that he had not yet been able to meet the actor in jail and requested more time to file further arguments after consulting him.
The court, while sympathetic to Yadav’s situation, stressed that the law must take precedence. “We can sympathize with you, but the law has its place,” the bench said. The actor’s lawyer had requested interim bail so that Yadav could attend his elder brother’s daughter’s wedding, assuring the court that the remaining payment could be deposited immediately. Members of the Bollywood fraternity have reportedly offered support to help resolve the matter.
Interim Bail Sought by Rajpal Yadav Amid ₹5 Crore Loan Dispute
The origins of the case go back to 2010, when Rajpal Yadav took a loan of around ₹5 crore from M/s Murli Projects Private Limited to make his directorial film Aata Pata Lapata. The film did not succeed commercially, payments were delayed, and several checks issued by the actor bounced. A case was subsequently filed under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.
Over the years, the Delhi High Court had given Yadav multiple chances to settle the issue. However, repeated delays led the court to issue a notice and order him to surrender on February 4. With the matter now adjourned, all eyes will be on the next hearing on February 16, when the court will consider his bail plea and the progress on repayment. This case highlights the challenges actors face when financial and legal issues intersect with their public lives.
