Raghav Chadha Leads Defection of 7 AAP MPs to Bharatiya Janata Party, Calls It ‘Right Person in Wrong Party’ Moment

7 AAP Rajya Sabha MPs, Led by Raghav Chadha, Join BJP in Major Shift: In a major political development, Raghav Chadha along with Rajya Sabha MPs Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal announced their exit from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday. Chadha also claimed that prominent figures including cricketer-turned-MP Harbhajan Singh, Rajendra Gupta, Vikram Sahni, and Swati Maliwal have also left AAP, taking the total number of defecting MPs to seven.

Explaining his decision, Chadha alleged that AAP had strayed far from its founding principles. He said the party he had helped build over 15 years was no longer working in the national interest but had shifted toward personal agendas. Calling himself “the right person in the wrong party,” he emphasized that the leadership and direction of the party had significantly changed despite collective efforts to expand its presence in Delhi, Punjab, and beyond.

Chadha also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting what he described as bold decision-making by the central government over the past decade. He claimed that more than two-thirds of AAP’s 10 Rajya Sabha MPs are supporting the shift and that formal documentation has already been submitted to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. The development signals a significant political setback for AAP and could reshape parliamentary dynamics in the coming months.
