Heatwave Grips North India as India Meteorological Department Issues Rain Alert
IMD Issues Heatwave Alert for Delhi, UP, Bihar Amid Rising Temperatures: A severe heatwave continues to affect large parts of North India, with states like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan experiencing scorching temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions, warning that there will be no immediate relief in Delhi, with high temperatures expected to persist until April 27.
In Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the heatwave remains intense, particularly in eastern regions. The IMD has forecast heatwave conditions in eastern Uttar Pradesh until April 27, while Bihar is expected to see a shift in weather from April 26 onwards. Thunderstorm alerts have been issued for key cities including Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Darbhanga, where cloud cover and rain may bring temporary relief.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan continues to reel under extreme heat, with Barmer recording a maximum temperature of 44.1°C. Temperatures are expected to rise further in parts of the state over the next few days. In contrast, Maharashtra may witness pre-monsoon showers, with thunderstorms predicted in regions like Konkan and Marathwada. The IMD has also warned of possible hailstorms in some districts, issuing a yellow alert amid rapidly changing weather conditions.
