8th Pay Commission: How Much Will Your Salary Rise If Basic Pay Is Rs 69,000 ?

The Eighth Pay Commission team is holding meetings daily in various states to assess employees’ concerns and demands so that it can prepare a report and submit it to the government. So far, employees have made some demands, including a minimum basic salary of ₹69,000 and a fitment factor of 3.83. 

The 8th Pay Commission team has completed meetings in Delhi, Pune, and Uttarakhand. Now, if the 8th Pay Commission accepts the employees’ demand for a 3.83 fitment factor, the salaries of not only senior officials but also government peons, clerks, teachers, railway employees, and IAS officers could see a significant increase.

The minimum basic pay could rise from ₹18,000 to approximately ₹69,000. Promotions could also be granted five times in 30 years. Besides dearness allowance and HR, other perks could also increase threefold. However, here’s a salary estimate to help us understand how much salary increases employees at different levels could expect. 

How much could your salary increase? 
Under the 8th Pay Commission, Level 1 includes peons and attendants. Level 2 includes lower division employees, while Level 3 includes constables and skilled workers. Level 4 includes Grade D stenographers and junior clerks, whose current salary is ₹25,500. According to a Moneycontrol report, if the 3.83 is kept, the salary increase could be as follows.

Expected new basic pay: Around Rs 68,940
Level-1: Increased from Rs 18,000 to around Rs 69,000
Level-2: Increased from Rs 19,900 to around Rs 76,000
Level-3: Increased from Rs 21,700 to around Rs 83,000
Level-4: Increased from Rs 25,500 to around Rs 97,000
Level-5: Increased from Rs 29,200 to about Rs 1.11 lakh

Salary hike for mid-level employees 
Level-6: Increased from Rs 35,400 to around Rs 1.35 lakh
Level-7: Increased from Rs 44,900 to about Rs 1.72 lakh
Level-8: Increased from Rs 47,600 to about Rs 1.82 lakh
Level-9: Increased from Rs 53,100 to about Rs 2.03 lakh

How much can senior officers’ salaries increase?

Level-13: Increased from Rs 1.23 lakh to about Rs 4.71 lakh
Level-14: Increased from Rs 1.44 lakh to about Rs 5.52 lakh
Level-15: Increased from Rs 1.82 lakh to around Rs 6.97 lakh
Level-18: Increased from Rs 2.50 lakh to approximately Rs 9.57 lakh
