Kolkata Knight Riders Beat Gujarat Titans, IPL Playoff Race Heats Up: The IPL 2026 playoff race has become even more exciting after Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Gujarat Titans by 29 runs at Eden Gardens on May 16. The win kept KKR’s playoff hopes alive and also increased the pressure on several other teams in the points table race.
With their fifth win of the season, KKR now has 11 points from 12 matches and has moved to seventh place, overtaking Delhi Capitals. Their Net Run Rate stands at -0.038. Despite the loss, the Gujarat Titans remain in second place with 16 points from 13 matches and a Net Run Rate of +0.400.
Royal Challengers Bangalore continues to lead the points table with 16 points from 12 matches and an impressive Net Run Rate of +1.053. Sunrisers Hyderabad is third with 14 points, while Punjab Kings is fourth with 13 points. Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings are also still in the playoff race with 12 points each.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals is in eighth place with 10 points. Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants have officially been knocked out of the tournament.
