Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart, Sanae Takaichi, engaged in high-level talks to further deepen bilateral relations. This is the first official visit of the Japanese PM to India.
India- Japan Summit 2026: Modi- Takaichi signed pacts on AI-Defence-Energy: The 16th India- Japan annual summit was held in New Delhi. India and Japan signed pacts on Thursday to boost their cooperation in artificial intelligence, metals, energy, and prepared a joint roadmap for economic security.
The relations between the two countries reached a new height during the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit held in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart, Sanae Takaichi, engaged in high-level talks to further deepen bilateral relations. This is the first official visit of the Japanese PM to India. Major agreements were made in this meeting on many important issues like trade, defence, and future technology.
In the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, representatives of both countries signed several Memoranda of Cooperation (MoC) at Hyderabad House in Delhi. These agreements aim to further strengthen cooperation in defence, energy, artificial intelligence, technology and other strategic areas. These agreements are expected to give a new direction to the India-Japan strategic partnership in the Indo-Pacific region.
PM Modi said, as the largest democratic and market-based economies in the region, we have taken many important initiatives today. These collective efforts will pave the way for peace, stability and progress in the entire region. Prime Minister Takaichi and I believe that partnership in the field of technology will become the strongest pillar of our cooperation. He also announced an ambitious target of 10 trillion yen in Japanese investment into India for the next decade.
