5 inmates test HIV positive in Chowdwar Jail: At least 5 inmates in Chowdwar Circle Jail have tested HIV positive. They have been quarantined in a special cell and are receiving proper medical care under 1 doctor and 2 pharmacist. The information was shared by Senior Superintendent of police Sujit Kumar Roul.
Recently, a similar incident came to light in Jharpada special jail where at least 8 inmates have tested HIV positive.
With the number of HIV-positive inmates rising, prison authorities have intensified preventive measures to ensure the infection does not spread among the other inmates. All newly admitted inmates must undergo mandatory medical screening, including various health tests.
