Wimbledon 2026: Naomi Osaka reaches Wimbledon Fourth Round For First Time: Naomi Osaka ended her long wait to reach the fourth round of Wimbledon for the first time in her tennis career. The Japanese star beat Australia’s Daria Kasatkina 6-1, 6-3 on Friday.
‘I am really happy. In my career I have never won on this court. I am just glad to have made a really good memory,’ said Osaka. Stealing the spotlight with her performances she beat Australia’s Daria Kasatkina 6-1, 6-3 in 65 minutes to write a new chapter in her career at the All England Club. In the first set, Osaka lost only five points on her serve and won the set 6-1. Kasatkina tried to come back in the second set. She engaged Osaka in long rallies and hit some brilliant winners with his forehand. She even leveled the score at 3-3 with the help of a great lob. However, in the seventh game, Osaka withstood the pressure and earned a 4-3 lead.
Osaka took her head-to-head record against Kasatkina to 4-0. Not only this, they have won eight of the nine sets played between the two, which shows their clear edge in this rivalry. Osaka now joins 31 active players who have reached the fourth round of all four Grand Slam tournaments.
The 14th-seeded Japanese star Osaka is a four-time Grand Slam champion. He has won the Australian Open twice and the US Open twice. However, in the French Open and Wimbledon, she has not reached beyond the fourth round. Osaka, 28, made her Wimbledon debut in 2017.
