Vaibhav created history as soon as he stepped onto the field in the match held at Old Trafford in Manchester on Saturday (July 4). Left-handed batsman Vaibhav has now become the youngest cricketer, aged just 15 years and 99 days, to make his international debut for India. He was awarded his debut cap by vice-captain Tilak Verma. Vaibhav is the 122nd player to play a T20 International for India.
He has broken the record of the Lord of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, for playing international cricket at the youngest age. Sachin made his debut against Pakistan at the age of 16 years and 205 days. Shefali Verma holds the record for the youngest debutant in women’s cricket for India. She made her international debut for the Indian women’s team at the age of 15 years and 239 days. Shefali made his international debut on 24 September 2019 by playing a T20 International match against South Africa.

After Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s spectacular performance in IPL 2026, it was decided that he will play for Team India.
