Union Minister Pralhad Joshi is currently the Union Minister of Food and Consumer Affairs. He has been appointed as the new Education Minister following the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan.

He has been given the additional charge of the Ministry of Education in addition to his existing portfolio.

The development comes after President Droupadi Murmu accepted Pradhan’s resignation amid protests over the NEET paper leak on Saturday. The BJP leader, Pralhad Joshi, is the Member of Parliament from Dharwad in Karnataka. He currently serves as the Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) in the Government of India. He also serves as the President of the International Solar Alliance.

‘I accept this responsibility with a sense of duty and humility. I am thankful to the Prime Minister. In the last 12 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, many historic achievements have been made,’ Joshi told the media in his first comment following the confirmation of the appointment.
