2-tier examination system for the NEET-UG examination. This will enable better evaluation of students’ aptitude.
NEET-UG exam may switch to CBT mode: The NEET-UG exam pattern is likely to undergo significant changes, with preparations underway. The central government filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court and provided this information on Wednesday.
The affidavit stated that the option of switching from the existing pen-paper mode to a computer-based test is being seriously considered. Along with this, 2-tier examination system, Main and Advanced, for NEET-UG exam will also be taken into consideration. The security arrangements of the examination include systems such as biometric verification for question papers, GPS-tracked one-time locked trunks and encrypted digital question-banks.
Introducing a 2-tier examination system similar to JEE will not only strengthen the security of the examination, but will also enable better evaluation of students’ aptitude. However, the government clarified that the final decision is yet to be taken. The government has also said that it has formed a task force under the chairmanship of Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani.
The recommendations and report of the task force will also be taken into consideration before taking a final decision. The students will be informed about the new pattern in advance, so that they get full opportunity to prepare according to the new system.
