A class-VII student dies by suicide after being scolded over homework: A 13-year-old allegedly died by suicide after his parents scolded him to complete his homework. The incident has left the family and local residents in shock.

The shocking incident has come to light from Laxminagar society in Gujarat’s Surat. The victim was identified as a class 7 student of Municipal School No.331 of Surat Municipal Corporation. As per the victim’s parents, their 13-year-old son was addicted to mobile gaming. Monday evening, they warned him repeatedly to stop using the device and focus on completing his homework. Despite being told several times, he didn’t listen. So, his father scolded him. The boy became upset over this. Then he handed over the mobile phone to his mother and went to another room and locked the door from inside. Later, when his mother knocked on the door for dinner, the boy did not respond. Suspecting something serious, they alerted neighbours and broke open the locked door. They found the minor hanging. The family rushed the boy to the nearby hospital, but the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Surat police have launched an investigation into the incident. Excessive mobile gaming can increase aggression and irritability among children, making parental awareness and supervision more important.
