Jharkhand Bandh Today: High Alert in Ranchi, Former JPSC Chief Arrested: The BJP has called for a Jharkhand Bandh on Tuesday, August 11, to protest the police lathi-charge on students demanding action over alleged irregularities in JPSC-JSSC recruitment exams.

On Monday, protesting students surrounded the Jharkhand Assembly, after which police used force to disperse them. The protests have increased political tensions in the state.

CM Hemant Soren Appeals for Calm:
Chief Minister Hemant Soren appealed to the students to remain peaceful. He said the government is seriously considering their demands. The BJP, however, accused the government of suppressing the students’ voices and condemned the police action.

Former JPSC Chairman Arrested:
The Jharkhand CID arrested former JPSC Chairman L. Khiangte on Monday over alleged irregularities in recruitment exams. He had resigned from his post on July 22.

His arrest came a day after three JPSC members resigned amid protests by candidates. With Khiangte’s arrest, 20 people have now been arrested in the case. Khiangte said he resigned voluntarily to ensure a fair investigation.
