Iran’s Demands:
Iran has reportedly demanded billions of dollars in compensation, an end to the US naval blockade and the withdrawal of US troops from the region in exchange for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait is a major route for global oil and gas shipments. Any prolonged disruption could affect global energy prices and markets.
