Pakistan SC orders former PM Imran Khan’s shift to hospital: A big relief for former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. Pakistan Supreme Court on Tuesday has ordered to shift Imran be shifted from jail to a hospital over his deteriorating health.

A three-judge bench headed by Justice Shahid Waheed passed the verdict on petitions seeking hospitalization of Imran and access to his family members.The Supreme Court directed the concerned authorities to shift Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad within 48 hours. They have been directed to keep him in the hospital till September 16.

Imran’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has welcomed the decision. The party and Imran Khan’s family have been expressing concern over his poor health for a long time. According to his lawyers, the vision in his right eye has been greatly affected during his stay in jail. His sons had also expressed concern over his deteriorating health last year.

73-year-old Imran Khan has been in jail since August, 2023. He has been facing several legal cases ever since he was removed from power in 2022 through a no-confidence motion. However, Imran has been rejecting all the allegations against him saying that they are politically motivated.
