Centre Assures No LPG Shortage, Says Production Up 28% in 5 Days
Centre Says India Has Enough Oil and Gas Despite Global Conflict: The central government has assured people that there is no shortage of LPG or oil in the country. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said LPG production has increased by 28% in the last five days and advised citizens not to panic.
The issue was raised in the Lok Sabha, where opposition leader Rahul Gandhi claimed that many hotels and restaurants are struggling due to lack of gas. He also said common people are facing difficulties.
Responding to the criticism, the minister said India’s crude oil supply is safe despite global tensions. Earlier, about 45% of India’s crude oil supply came through the Strait of Hormuz, but the country has now stored enough oil to handle the situation.
Meanwhile, the issue of LPG price rise created chaos in the Odisha Legislative Assembly. Members of the Indian National Congress protested with placards, while the Biju Janata Dal also supported the protest. Due to the uproar, the Speaker adjourned the house shortly after the session began.
While the government says there is no shortage of gas, long queues for LPG cylinders are still being seen in some parts of the country. The opposition has demanded a clear statement from the state government regarding the situation and rising prices.
