Jaishankar Speaks with Iran’s Foreign Minister: India Steps Up Talks as West Asia Tensions Rise: As tensions continue to rise in West Asia, India has stepped up its diplomatic efforts. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke with Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi over the phone to discuss the latest developments in the region.
Jaishankar shared on X that both leaders had a detailed discussion about the ongoing conflict. Earlier, he also met Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al-Busaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman, to talk about the crisis.
West Asia is very important for India because the country gets a large part of its energy from the region and many Indians live and work there. India has called on all sides to remain calm and solve the issue through dialogue and diplomacy.
Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi and signed a condolence book after the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. During the visit, he also met Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh.
