Former Lanjigarh MLA Sibaji Majhi Passes Away At 55: Former Lanjigarh MLA Sibaji Majhi passed away in his native village late Tuesday night. He was initially admitted to Bhawanipatna hospital after complaining of chest pain. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment.
After undergoing treatment he was discharged. Then Majhi returned to his village, where he breathed his last on Tuesday night. His untimely demise at the age of 55 has cast a shadow of grief across the Lanjigarh region and Kalahandi district. Leaders of various political parties, social workers, and common people have expressed deep sorrow and prayed for the peace of his soul.
Sibaji Majhi began his political career in Odisha and became the first MLA of the newly formed Lanjigarh constituency, from 2009 to 2014. He worked extensively for the development of the tribal-dominated and remote areas of Lanjigarh and Thuamul Rampur.
He served as its first Chairman following the formation of the Special Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Council in Kalahandi district. He took several important steps for the welfare of tribal and Dalit communities in the region. Majhi’s simple life, approachable nature and good conduct earned him widespread respect and affection among the people.
