Amidst the excitement of the Delhi Premier League, an unexpected incident during the match left the stadium at a standstill. The incident occurred during a match between East Delhi Riders and New Delhi Tigers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Monday. This incident happened in the 18th over of New Delhi Tigers’ batting. Lakshya Thareja, the batsman, played a powerful straight drive towards the front off spinner Ashish Meena. The ball came back at such a high speed that the bowler Ashish did not have time to catch it. On the other hand, the umpire Dharmesh Bharadwaj attempted to get out of the way, but the ball hit him before he could clear its path. The blow struck the side of his face and jaw. The severity of the incident quickly became apparent as Bharadwaj was taken off for medical attention.
Worryingly, this marks the second such incident involving Dharmesh Bhardwaj this season. Earlier, during another match, he was struck by the ball on his shoulder.
