Man arrested after 36 years for attacking umpire: A shocking case has come to light from Mumbai. Police have finally arrested an accused for allegedly attacking an umpire during a cricket match, who has been absconding since 1990.
According to police, during a cricket match in Borivali, Mumbai, in 1990, there was a dispute over the LBW decision, which turned violent. At that time, the batsman became angry with the umpire for giving him out LBW. During the heated argument, the batsman hit the umpire on the head with the bat and fled away from the spot. Now, after 36 years, the Borivali police have arrested the accused from Meera Road. The accused batsman has been identified as 55-year-old Omprakash Pasi. Police have registered a case of attempt to murder against the accused.
According to the police, during a cricket tournament in 1990, the umpire had given Pasi out LBW. An argument ensued between the two over the decision, after which Pasi allegedly hit the umpire on the head with the bat. The umpire was seriously injured in the attack.
The accused had been absconding from the police for several years. Recently, Crime Prevention Squad started searching for him through technical investigation. With the help of the communication partner system, the police found the mobile number registered in the name of the accused, whose location was found in Meera Road. When the police team reached Meera Road and questioned the locals about Pasi, it came to light that the person from whom the information was being sought was Omprakash Pasi. After this, the police took him into custody. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed his involvement in the 1990 incident. The case is under investigation.
