Delhi building collapse: Six died, look-out notice issued against owner: At least 6 people have died and 12 rescued after a building collapsed in Delhi on Sunday. While several others are suspected to be trapped under the debris. Search and rescue operations are underway.
According to sources, a building collapsed near Satya Niketan in South-West Delhi on Sunday. the incident is reported to have occurred around 1:30 pm today. After receiving the information the fire department teams reached the spot and initiated relief and rescue operation on a war footing. The collapsed 5 storey building was being used as a boy’s paying guest accommodation. Meanwhile Delhi CM Rekha Gupta visited the site on Monday and assessed the situation. She also ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident. Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the collapse, including the repair work being carried out at the premises. ‘This incident happened due to the negligence of the owner of the building. It was a very old building and due to water inundation in the basement, its pillars collapsed. The entire building collapsed,’ said Rekha Gupta.
A fresh CCTV footage of building collapse is surfacing on social media. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has ordered immediate sealing of illegal constructions exceeding 4 floors following the incident.
Delhi police have registered an FIR against the building owner. A lookout circular has been issued against the building owner Hariram Bansal said a senior police officer.
