Man refrigerated wife’s head wrapped in plastic bag: A woman was brutally killed by her husband over extra marital affair. Police have arrested the accused after he surrendered and seized exhibits from the crime scene.
The shocking incident came to light from Beltola area of Guwahati. The accused has been identified as Ramanuj Goswami of Dhubri district. According to police sources he was married to Riya Talukdar of Guwahati for less than a year. The couple lived in a flat on Goswami’s family land. We received information from family members of the couple that they were not able to contact the duo for the past two days, said police. Accordingly, a team from Hatigaon police station went to their flat. The door of the house was open, and the wife’s body was found lying on the floor, with her head severed. The severed head was later found kept inside a polythene bag inside the fridge, police added. Goswami, who is the prime suspect, has surrendered and confessed to the crime.
Goswami claimed that he suspected his wife Riya over having an extra marital affair. This led to frequent fights between them. On september 3, they had fight which went on till early hours of the next day. At one point he lost his temper and beheaded his wife with a sharp weapon.
Police recovered the ‘dao’(axe) purportedly used in the crime. Police said that the investigating team is verifying the facts as claimed by the husband. Detailed interrogation is yet to be done. We are examining the circumstances leading to the crime. Further details can be shared only after thorough investigation.
