An elderly man killed over cash, jewellery: A 60-year-old was found dead in his residence under suspicious circumstances. Police have arrested a woman and her associates in connection with the incident.
The incident took place in Rohini Sector-3 under Rohini South police station limits on Tuesday. The victim has been identified as Rakesh khanna. Rakesh Khanna was alone at home when the incident took place, police said. Rohini district DCP Shashank Jaiswal said police received a call at around 7: 30 pm regarding the incident. Following which a team was rushed to the spot and an investigation was launched. On returning, the wife found his husband lying unconscious. All the cash and jewellery along with victim’s phone were missing. Unconscious Rakesh was immediately rushed to hospital but was declared dead by the doctor. On the basis of CCTV footage, police team identified and arrested accused in connection with the incident.
The accused were identified as a 24 year-old Simran, Rakesh’s sister-in-law’s daughter, her lover Himanshu and associates Chirag & Paras. During interrogation Simran confessed, she knew in advance that uncle Rakesh had recently sold a flat worth approximately Rs 80 lakh and had bought gold with that money. Therefore, she plotted the robbery and murder with her associates with intention of stealing gold and money from her uncle Rakesh.
A case of murder and robbery has been registered and further investigation is underway.
