Minor harassed, stalked dies by suicide, 1 arrested: A class 10 student dies by suicide after alleged harassment and stalking. Police have arrested main accused while search for other is underway.
The shocking incident has come to light from a village under Gajraula police station limits in Amroha Uttar Pradesh. The victim has been identified as 15-year-old class 10 student. Police said the victim’s mother found her body around 9 am at home after returning from fields on Thursday. Her father was away in Muzafarnagar for work at the time.
According to victim’s family a young man named Nayyum had been harassing and stalking the student during her commute to school for nearly 3 months. The girl initially has not disclosed the matter fearing social embarrassment. She narrated the ordeal only after another alleged incident on Tuesday. The family alleges that they complained to Nayyum’s brother Nasir about the student’s harassment. Upon complaining, Nasir abused and threatned the family. The family claims that the student was continued to be harassed even after the complaint. The student was so depressed that she committed suicide.
Based on the complaint filed by the family, police have registered a case against Nayyum and Nasir. Main accused Nayyum has been arrested on Friday and police search is underway to search the second accused, Nasir. Police are now investigating all aspects of the case. Further actions will be taken based on post-mortem report and facts revealed in the investigation said police.
