OMFED soon to launch packaged drinking water and icecream: Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation(OMFED) is likely to expand its product portfolio with packaged drinking water and ice creams.  The new products are expected to be launched in the Odisha market after receiving approval from the OMFED board, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik said. The discussions currently underway at the board level.

The Minister said OMFED has maintained quality standards in its products and follows a multi-level checking system to ensure quality. He said milk undergoes three-tier quality checks, including testing of fat content, while measures are also taken to prevent adulteration.

According to the Minister, adulteration is not permitted in OMFED products and strict action is taken if any such irregularity is detected. He emphasised that quality control remains a key focus of the organisation as it expands its product range. The proposed launch of OMFED ice cream and packaged water is part of the organisation’s efforts to diversify its offerings and cater to wider consumer demand. However, the products will enter the market only after the necessary approval from the board.

Meanwhile, the Minister said the price of OMFED milk has been increased by Rs 2 to help farmers become more financially self-reliant. He said the price revision was aimed at providing better returns to dairy farmers and strengthening their economic condition.

The proposed new product launches is expected to further expand OMFED’s presence in the consumer market.
